Shopping cart abandonment is when a potential customer on your website is in the middle of checking out and decides they no longer want to purchase their order. To put this problem into perspective, three out of four shopping carts are abandoned, and the abandoned cart rate rose 2% over the last year.
According to the Baymard Institute, these are the most common reasons why
customers abandon shopping carts:
More than half of consumers cite expensive shipping fees. By offering free shipping, you’ll be greatly increasing your chances of success. Almost half of small to medium-sized businesses said that offering free shipping increased profits.
In addition to cutting shipping fees, offering more shipping options greatly increases your customer’s desire to follow through on a purchase. By working with a provider that can offer same day and next day shipping options, you’ll be giving your customer more flexibility to make a purchase that works for them.
